Collared Jaguar

On Fazenda Barranco Alto we actively promote environmental conservation by supporting research by Brazilian and International Universities. Such as Universidade Federal do Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), Universidade de São Paulo (USP), Universidade do Estado de São Paulo (UNESP), Stanford University, University of Bonn, University of Zurich, University of Wageningen and others.

We have a "Researcher House" suitable for groups of up to 8-12 people, with ample working/studying space, Internet connection and all necessary field assistance.

To date research is being conducted in geology, entomology, ecology, ethology and more.

Jaguar Research Project

The Jaguar Research Project was initiated in 2008 by Lucas Leuzinger in partnership with the Jaguar Conservation Fund. Today it's known as "Jaguars of the Rio Negro Project - Projeto Onças do Rio Negro" and is coordinated by Fazenda Barranco Alto and Fazenda Vera Lucia.
